PARRSBORO I - Light Details

  • Location: On Partridge Island, west side of mouth of harbour
  • Standing: This light is no longer standing.
  • Operating: This light is no longer operating.
  • Began: 1852
  • Year Lit: 1852
  • Structure Type: Octagonal wood tower, white
  • Light Characteristic: Fixed White (1941)
  • Tower Height: 032ft feet high.
  • Light Height: 037ft feet above water level.

History Items for This Lighthouse

  • 1883 - catatropic lens, 9m, fixed white
  • 1905 - fog bell installed - 1917 - compressed air diaphone installed
  • 1922 - 1941 - 4th order dioptric lens, fog signal in base of tower
  • 1941 - 1960 - replaced by skeleton tower

  • Location: On bar, at west side of entrance to harbour
  • Standing: This light is still standing.
  • Operating: This light is operational
  • Automated: All operating lights in Nova Scotia are automated.
  • Date Automated: Automated by 1987
  • Began: 1980
  • Year Lit: 1980
  • Structure Type: Square concrete tower, white, on square building
  • Light Characteristic: Fixed Green (1992)
  • Tower Height: 021ft feet high.
  • Light Height: 028ft feet above water level.

  • 1982 - 1990 - replaced second tower between these dates
  • 1992 - electric lantern, fog horn in operation
